The new Windows Terminal is a huge improvement on the current default console application for Windows. The project is currently in development, but there is a usable “Early Preview Build” that is being maintained for the public. Even in its current state, I find it to be far superior to the current console interface.

The configuration of Terminal is currently managed via a text file called profiles.json and can be accessed via a Settings menu entry in the new tab menu on the title bar.
